Splash of color

Life has never been more colorful than it was on Saturday, April 14th. My psuedo sister came along for a second time to run another 5K with me. This one was a little different than the St Paddy’s Run since it was a color run! I would definitely do another color run in the future, especially in warmer weather.
It started at 9 Am but since it was located 25 minutes away from me, we had to leave at 7:50. Yep, we again chose to wake up at 6 on a Saturday morning. My parents made us eggs and I had oatmeal and she had a bagel for breakfast. It was 38 degrees, windy, and rainy the day of the race. Nonetheless, we both had fun and even beat our last time by 3 minutes!
This race was $12 less than the other one and this race was definitely more enjoyable (even with the terrible weather). We got a shirt, cup, coffee mug, banana, and an extra color packet to throw on each other at the end. Since it was so cold, layering became our best friend. I wore 2 pairs of leggings, 2 pairs of socks, a long sleeved shirts, the color run shirt, a hoodie, and than gloves. As someone who isn’t allowed to wear white, this sure was out of my comfort zone.
Fun fact I literally did not prepare for this race at all. I think I went to the gym twice before Saturday and somehow I still got a better time and we ran a lot more than March’s race.
If you ever choose to do a color run, make sure to wear a ton of white and be prepared to spend some money to buy accessories for the day. Every part of you will be covered. Even with taking a shower immediately after, my hair & ears are still pink and my fingers are still blue. Also please be smart and bring towels to sit on in your car because we didn’t think that through...Trust me, you’ll thank me.
I then walked a 5K the day after the color run to support the special needs program at my high school! We will most likely be running our next 5K next month.
Thanks for reading,
Elisa (:
