My tattoos

At only 19 years old, I have four tattoos. Pawprints, camping scene, moon & bird, and a pineapple. I definitely plan on getting more throughout my life and want my right thigh done with random designs. (instead of doing an arm sleeve, so I can easily cover them for future careers).

Pawprints: This was my first tattoo that I got on January 20, 2019. I was 18 at the time and it was a very spur of the moment type of deal. I literally woke up, contacted my friend Melissa, told my mom I was getting a tattoo, and left the house. Now, keep in mind that my parents were not super supportive of having an inked body. My dad and brother found out through the picture they saw on my Snapchat story.

This tattoo means a lot to me as it is dedicated to my childhood dog that passed away in March 2018. I did a lot of image searching on Pinterest but chose this design due to the heart. The location did not really hurt besides the heart. I was expecting a lot worse-especially since I have a DEEP fear of needles. The friend that I went with ended up getting a tattoo that day also (mainly because I pressured her into it and she already had one).

Bird and Moon: These tattoos are matching with my best friend since childhood, Meghan. We got them done for her 18th birthday. She has a sun and a bird on the same location as mine-lower stomach. I do not recommend getting a stomach tatt if you have a low pain tolerance because let me tell you, I have NEVER felt pain like that in my life. I literally turned my friend’s hand purple because I was squeezing it so hard because of the pain.

The moon on me symbolizes nighttime. I have always been a night owl and enjoy being out at night (Though honestly, now put me to bed at 9 and I probably totally can fall asleep, thanks to college). The shading of the moon was inspired by a Bitmoji. There is one where your avatar is by a moon and I liked the colors, and someone agreed with me, so I went for it. Her sun goes along with her hair color since she is strawberry blonde.

The birds represent my childhood nickname, which I will not be sharing with you all, but I know some of my friends remember it. Meghan chose the bird design and I chose the sun/moon.

Camping Scene: Ah yes, the one where she matches with the man who was completely and utterly against tattoos. I honestly forced my dad to get this with me, so I let him choose the design of it. I wanted something camping related on me, but I was just going to go with a simple tent and tree. He figured, if he’s really going to get permanent ink on his body, it better be worth it.

We got this on Black Friday 2019 because we share a tradition of going to the mall together, so I figured since we were already together and the shop that I go to accepts walk-ins, we’re getting it that day. They also had a deal where if you spent $150, you get a free sweatshirt, so that was cool.

My dad got it on his upper arm, kind of where my paw prints are, and I got it in my shoulder blade. It didn’t hurt too bad, but you can tell when he was doing the trees because he had to spend a lot of time in one place. Honestly, it’s a good place for a first tattoo in my opinion.

Pineapple: This is by far my favorite one that I have, I absolutely love it. I also don’t really like my legs, but because it’s on my thigh, I love showing my legs off. I usually just tell people it’s because I love pineapples-which is not a lie, but in reality, it’s because of the show Psych. For those that have not seen the show, they hid a pineapple in every single episode and the goal was to find it.

I got this in January 2020 because I wanted to get it in 2019, so of course, it was going to be my first tattoo of the year. Hopefully, COVID-19 doesn’t make it the last of the year too ):

To me, this tattoo is perfect. The shading, size, location, I just love it. The pain wasn’t terrible. The person that came with me knew what part hurts the most due to me grabbing his hand and releasing it at the parts that didn’t. It probably wouldn’t have been bad if it wasn’t for the shading process. I plan to get a lot more leg tattoos in the future.

Thanks for reading,

Elisa
