Since I was young, I have always wanted to publish a book. As I got older and more into writing poetry, I would tell people how I wanted to publish a poetry book but was always scared because of all the personal poems that would go into it.
During my second year of college, I took my Humanities course as an honors credit and chose to write a “poetry book” that consisted of poems relating to the course content. My teacher, Aaron Lawler, enjoyed the book so much that he encouraged to publish my writing.
From there, I started working heavily on my book and committed to becoming an author. Some personal issues occurred in my life in the early months of 2020, so I finished it a lot later than expected, but it is now for sale!
The poems in the book were poems I wrote as early as 2014 from 2019. Some topics in the book are heavier than others. I write about heartbreak, accepting yourself, mental health, friendship and more. I also included my photography to separate sections. The different sections are “Life” “Just a Memory” and “The End.”
