Megan Abbott creates a murder-type-gymnastics story. Devon Knox was born a superstar and always was the girl that was shown the most attention at any gym she went to. She had her future set by Coach T laying out the plan to get her to the Olympics one day. Then, an event occurred that would change the gymnastics setting forever.

With only months leading up to senior elite qualifiers, one of the coaches at the BelStars gym was murdered by a speeding car on a dark road. The book is divided up into five sections that give three possible suspects. Will Devon be able to handle the stress of the death and training for qualifiers?

This book is slow-moving and takes a while for readers to get into it, at least 100 pages until there’s a “huh, that’s interesting” moment. If you enjoy a who-dun-it story or books that revolve around sports life, this one is for you. If neither of those interest you, this book isn’t worth the read.

I expected more. Part five was not needed, some dialogue and descriptions could have been cut. There were many times when I did not even want to finish this book, but if you are planning to read it, please do finish it because I was not expecting the ending at all.

Overall, the plot was interesting but the book itself did not give me the pleasure I was hoping for. I give it a solid 3/5 stars because I liked the characters, the ending was a surprise and the basis of the murder was the reason I chose to read it.

Thanks for reading and if you choose to read the book, let me know what you think,
